Public Speaking

The Lorcan Gogan Competition for Public Speaking was held on Tuesday April 28th, 09 in the Fr. Barry Hall.

Under a new format, the competition was a great success. The motion before the house -

"This house agrees that all patients are entitled to equal access to healthcare

whatever their lifestyle choices".

The speakers were JJ McLoughlin (6th) Conor Hand (6th) Luke O' Connor (5th) Andrew Kennedy (6th) Richard Maher (6th)

James McKenna (6th) Roy Grimson (5th) and Ben Shaffrey (6th)

The adjudicators were former presidents of St. Mary's Past Pupils Union, Richard Byrne, David Larney and Don O'Higgins.

The guest adjudicators was Ms. Pauline Byrne from Duncannon, Co. Wexford.

The M.C. was Mr. Declan Harmon and the chairperson was Mr. Peter Cosgrove, President of the P.P.U.
