On March 23rd Aubrey Flegg author of the acclaimed Louise Trilogy and winner of the Bisto Book of the Year 2004 paid a visit to First Years in the Library.

The boys had read his book The Cinnamon Tree about a landmine survivor who travels to Ireland for treatment.

Aubrey Flegg did a slide show presentation and showed the boys where he got his ideas for the characters in the books.

He also had the case of an anti-personnel landmine (APM) which he showed to the boys and gave them a great insight into the severity of the problem in Angola.

All boys got to be a millionaire for one second when he let them hold a 1,000,000 kwanza note. (Worth about €2 in Ireland)

Jacob Barnes and Jack Mulligan then gave a small presentation on the project work they had done on the subject of landmines.

Everyone enjoyed the visit and we look for to our authors visit next year.
